Ruth Gurvich

Ruth Gurvich explores porcelain through the eyes of a painter. Born in 1961 in Cordoba, Argentina, she initially studied architecture in her home country. In 1979 she switched to liberal arts and continued her studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1987 to 1991. In her designs, Gurvich depicts the shapes and structures of everyday things. She became known for her three-dimensional works made of paper, which trace a filigree aesthetic all their own. In her designs, she consciously uses the materiality of paper - a material that allows light, movement and liveliness to be brought into things. She works in collaboration with various manufacturers including Nymphenburg, who proudly showcases her "Lightscape" collection.
