Bruno Moinard Signature Kitchen

Millwork

Bespoke Obumex Kitchens are inspired by pure art of living, suffused with passion and craftsmanship, perfectly matching your vision of life. Through a deep exploration and comprehensive design process, each project is unique and fully made-to-measure, with no detail left untouched.
French architect and designer Bruno Moinard achieved world renown with his unflinching vision of the present and the future, reinterpreting classicism for comfort and elegance. His collaboration with Obumex takes the traditional kitchen and elevates it to an essential part of the decorative universe. As ever, Moinard is inspired by new shapes — graphic, strong, and sensual — and alternations between shine and matte. Copper and wood are combined in unexpected ways in the everyday kitchen, and the shadows and natural light lines also create different tones. The result changes daily life into something both daring and elegant, caught between linearity and roundness, symmetry and asymmetry, balance and imbalance.

Design Story

Bruno Moinard

Bruno Moinard, architect, scenographer, designer, draftsman and painter, founded his agency 4BI & Associates in 1995 after leaving the team of Andrée Putman and Ecart International, which he had joined in 1979. His scenographic mastery with regards to many creations for museums, exhibitions and boutiques, including Paris’s Fondation Cartier, brought him steadily into the luxury universe. One of his strengths resides in the subtle, elegant, refined, and yet warm, integration of French culture into each of his projects around the world.

In 2002, Maison Cartier entrusted him with the new development and concept of its boutiques worldwide (350 to date), a partnership that endures to this day. Other notable projects by Moinard include Château Latour in Pauillac, France (owned by François Pinault) in two phases of work (2003 and 2015); Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris (2014); Veuve Clicquot’s Hôtel du Marc in Reims, France (LVMH Group, 2011); and the Balenciaga headquarters, Paris (2014). His solidly established reputation would then extend through Europe to include The Dorchester hotel in London (2014) and the Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square (2015), which includes French chef Anne-Sophie Pic’s restaurant, Le Dame de Pic. His reach has also extended to Asia, with projects in Japan and two hotels in Chengdu, China (2013), as well as chef Alain Ducasse’s restaurant in Beijing.

In 2014 he created Bruno Moinard Éditions alongside his first furniture collection, and opened his gallery on 31 Rue Jacob in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris. In 2010, with Éditions de La Martinière, Moinard published his first work, “L'Architecte Promeneur”, followed by a second in October 2015 entitled “Du Trait à la Lumière,” which showcases images of some of his most iconic projects around the world.
