Drinking Set No. 282

Tableware

The 282 drinking set was created in 2010 in collaboration with designer Ted Muehling, providing a more masculine and streamlined counterpoint to his 2007 Balloon line. The mouth-blown crystal glass shapes are perfectly balanced, then accentuated with a diamond-cut base, a technique that challenges glasscutters and invites the touch of the holder. These pieces from Lobmeyr are a timeless and refined addition to any dinner table or cocktail party.

Design Story

Ted Muehling

Ted Muehling

Ted Muehling was born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1953 and studied industrial design at the Pratt Institute in New York. Muehling has been designing jewellery and objects inspired by natural shapes since 1976.

"I try to restrict my vocabulary of shape by abstracting forms from nature and transforming them with the aim of creating objects that function just as well as they look. My designs trace the invisible shapes that exist between nature and our perception of it." Ted Muehling has received many awards, including the Chrysler Design Award and the America Fashion Coty Award. His works may be found in many private and public collections.

AVENUE ROAD carries a curated assortment of Ted Muehling pieces.
