Less a retreat and more a summer camp for friends, George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg of global design firm Yabu Pushelberg built their dream vacation house in the Hamptons sands. They set the tone with metal lockers for guests on the way in, and continue the easy and familial sensibility inside with a grand common room meant for sharing. Van Rossum tables on both floors don’t belie their oak origins and are made for easy sharing. Beautiful Etel dining chairs in ocean-inspired blue level up the luxury and refinement without being fragile in the main room. Tribu furniture outside is meant to weather the strains of the elements in stride. The mood set is very high level but also humble.
