Zanat: Recrafting modern design

Driven by sustainability, Zanat, recrafts beautiful design in collaboration with notable designers and architects. At the foundation of Zanat lies a UNESCO world heritage woodcarving tradition originating from the Bosnian town of Konjic and a century old family business renowned in the Balkans for making detailed hand carved furniture and objects.

Orhan and Adem Niksic, fourth-generation heirs to the family business, established Zanat to promote a new approach to furniture design and production. Their approach emphasizes craftsmanship and showcases how traditional hand-carving techniques can enrich and expand design possibilities, while also contributing to sustainable development.

“IT TAKES A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF HISTORY TO MAKE EVEN A LITTLE TRADITION.” - Henry James

“THE ONE WHO MASTERS A RATIONAL WAY TO MANAGE AND USE TREES WILL COME CLOSE TO FORMING AN ETERNAL FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN MEN AND NATURE.”

Crafting Products for Longevity is a Key Determinant of Environmental Impact.

Zanat’s design strategy considers the impact of design on sustainability in the widest sense by considering various impacts of production, distribution, and use of their products. All Zanat’s products are made of natural, renewable, and sustainably sourced materials.
